STUDENTS

Welcome to Media!

It is exciting to see so many students join us as we become the first school to teach A Level Media in Romania! Media Studies is very dynamic and always changing, from changes in equipment to zeitgeists in film to new styles.

There is a little of everything in Media with real-world skills you will use for the rest of your life such as:

  • Website design and editing
  • Photography skills (in a studio and using natural lighting)
  • Audience awareness
  • Organisation
  • Leadership
  • Time Management
  • Independence
  • Creativity

In the CURRICULUM tab at the top of the page, you will find all the details of the specification and the course you have chosen. There is also a PARENT ZONE which covers the main questions that many guardians have about Media. Please do encourage them to take a look so they understand the complexity of what you are learning and achieving.

RECOMMENDED PURCHASES FOR STUDENTS

In the Media department, we have cameras, tripods, lenses, a green screen, lights, gimbals and voice recorders. These are open to be borrowed and experimented with. You are, of course, welcome to bring your own equipment in to use if you would rather.

There are a few things you may wish to purchase to make your Media journey simpler.
1.SD card. The images show two cards I recommend as they are good enough quality to store all your products from moving image footage to edited images without failing. They will serve you through the full two years if you look after them.

2.External hard drive. You will have a LOT of footage, raw images and post-production media to keep saved. An external hard drive stops you clogging up your memory or slowing computers down. This should be encrypted, labelled clearly with your name and at least 2 terabytes (you may want to use this for other subjects too).
